There are no rules for good photographs, there
are only good photographs.
Ansel Adams
I am Staley Wessel and I am Staley Wessel Photography.

I don't want to tell you that I am the area's premier photographer - every photographer says that.
I don't want to state everything in the third person so I sound important - I am important :)
I do want to tell you a little about me and what you can expect if you choose me as your
photographer.

I am an artist and the camera is my main tool. I take pride in my work and strive to make the images
from each session the very best they can be by carefully evaluating the images as they are created
as well as through expert enhancements before my clients see the images. You shouldn't have to
worry if you wake up with a blemish or a young kiddo has a bruise. I make sure that is not an issue.

I am a mother of four and they range from young children to adult so I am comfortable with all ages.
I am patient with clients, not just children but also those husbands who don't want to be there or the
senior who thinks he/she doesn't want their portrait taken (they change their mind once they see
the finished portraits). I am passionate about what I do and I hope that it shows.

My sessions are all on location and I work mostly with available light. Sessions can be indoors or
out but I personally prefer outdoor sessions because that is when I am really in my element.

I won't rush you. Sessions generally last 1-2 hours so you have plenty of time to relax, change
outfits, and even change locations. Extra time is alloted for babies since they have their own ideas
about how schedules should work.

My focus is children and by that I mean pregnancy, maternity, baby, children, high school senior,
and families. I also photograph weddings, boudoir, and the occasional musical artist.

My style is casual and free flowing. Sometimes set-up but not "posed". I like to talk with children
(and adults) and feel comfortable with eachother so that the image shows that comfort and
relaxation. I like unusual crops. I love
color. If there is more than one subject in an image I love
interaction between them. I love details that show personality. I don't particularly care much about
the "rules" of photography. I have learned them and am happy to break them. I like to try different
things and see if it works.

My opinion on portraits is SIMPLE is best but perfect is not mandatory - or even really desired. I
want to capture the real you so wear your blue jeans and your favorite t-shirt and those crazy bright
colored shoes that everyone teases you about! If it is a family portrait you clearly don't want to clash
with eachother but you still should be dressed in a way that is comfortable and real for you. If your
kiddo is one who always has a crazy cowlick sticking up - leave it up. Bring any fun props that you
or your kids love, a favorite toy, a bright funky hat or scarf, beat up skate board, old guitar, whatever
strikes your fancy - we'll find a way to include it. It's all about capturing the real you right now
because that changes with time - especially with kids. And sometimes for some people it doesn't
change, ya know like how your grandpa always wears those old overalls - he probably had some on
in every snapshot of him as a kid! Can't you just see the "then and now" in your mind!

I do offer digital files and discount packages. I also run specials occasionally and you can be
notified if you subscribe to the BLOG.

I love to give back some of the gifts that God has blessed me with and have become involved with
several charitable organizations. Please see the GIVING BACK page for details on a few.

I am based In Blue Springs, Missouri and serve the Greater Kansas City Area in both Kansas and
Missouri and will sometimes travel if the situation is right.

Now you know a bit about me, and a lot about how I work. If you think I may be the photographer for
you email or call. I can't wait to meet you!
